Peace and Sport International Forum 2022

Peace and Sport

Description

Peace and Sport is an international, neutral and independent organization based in Monaco, which promotes the construction of peaceful, inclusive and fair communities through the power of sport and the values it conveys. Founded in 2007 by Olympic medallist and World Champion of Modern Pentathlon Joël Bouzou, Peace and Sport is placed under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, of whom Mr. Bouzou is an advisor. Didier Drogba, Champion of Peace, has become its Vice-President in 2019. Peace and Sport carries out concrete actions to prove the unifying, educational and social impact of sport with the support of the Champions for Peace Club, which brings together more than 110 high-level athletes. Peace and Sport's actions are based on four key pillars: Mobilize, Connect, Demonstrate, Defend. Peace and Sport raises awareness, brings together and develops partnerships between the world of peace (NGOs, UN agencies, international organizations, academics), sport (Olympic family, international sports federations, National Olympic Committees, athletes) and political leaders from around the world (Heads of State, Ministers and Diplomats). This is the purpose of the annual Peace and Sport International Forums, of which 13 editions have been held in the Principality and abroad since 2007. Each edition brings together more than 500 high-level delegates from over a hundred countries, and over the years has become a key event on the agenda of peace actors around the world. • Peace and Sport works in close collaboration with leading organizations and is part of the official consultative bodies and collaborates closely with UNESCO, UNHCR, the United Nations and the Council of Europe. • The organization also cooperates with over 50 International Sports Federations and other institutional sports bodies. • Several of Peace and Sport's programs are officially recognized as good practices by the United Nations Secretariat General, most recently in the latest Secretary-General's Report on the Contribution of Sport to the 2030 Agenda. • Peace and Sport aligns its initiatives with the Kazan Action Plan, initiated by the MINEPS 2017 organized by UNESCO, recognized by the United Nations as an international framework of reference regarding the contribution of Sport to the 2030 Agenda. • The Peace and Sport Methodology, developed thanks to more than 12 years of field experience of peace through sport, proposes a set of activities conveying the values related to the culture of peace, through sport. It has the particularity of being entirely dedicated to peace building. This expertise was recognized by the United Nations in 2018 and its digitalization began in 2019, through a new mobile application: Peace and Sport x MyCoach. • Peace and Sport x MyCoach is the first digital tool to use sport to build a culture of peace through a dynamic and evolving annual program. Educators benefit from a reliable, modern and easy-to-use method that fits into their work cycle and is constantly updated with new content. • Through the Peace and Sport Peacemakers Program, 10 NGOs in 10 countries and 3 continents have committed to applying the Peace and Sport Methodology for the next two years, with the support of the Monegasque Organization.
