BIO
Raà Souza Vieira de Oliveira, brother of Socrates, is a Brazilian football legend. A French football champion and winner of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup with Paris-Saint-Germain, Raà won his greatest honour in 1994 when he won the World Cup with the Brazilian national team.
In 1998, Raà created the "Gol de Letra" foundation, a Brazilian charity that works for the education of children and teenagers in Brazil, with a particular focus on people from disadvantaged areas.
Inspired by the incredible career of his brother, doctor and major Brazilian football player Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio Vieira de Oliveira, Raà has been involved in the creation of a societal award embodied by the Sócrates Prize, which will enrich the list of the most prestigious individual football awards in the world, the Ballon d'Or. This award originates from the common desire of the Sócrates family and the "Gol de Letra" foundation, the L'Equipe Group and Peace and Sport, to demonstrate the growing commitment of athletes to the construction of more just and inclusive societies.
